Skanem expands internationally
Skanem expands out of Norway and acquires Hydrocan and Nordisk Blik in Denmark. Begin to export deep drawn aluminium cans to mainland Europe and the far east.

Rugland joins and aquires Skanem
Ole Rugland is hired as Managing Director in March 1985 and acquired Skanem in August 1986.

Name changed to Skanem
With a flourishing partnership with Stavanger Bliktrykkeri, Cebal decides to buy the company. The name is changed to Skanem, which is a combination of two words: Scandinavia and Emballage. Skanem becomes the patent holder and first supplier of easy open lid for aluminium cans in Norway.

A positive consumer growth in Norway sees the company focus on tin cans for food and paint. The company invests in automatic welding machines and printing presses.

Skanem is founded in Norway
In the late 19th century, the Norwegian industry for canned fish products grew rapidly. In the Stavanger region alone, there were over 60 canning factories. To cater to the growing demand for tin cans, Skanem is founded in Norway by Albert L. Barstad, Halfdan Abel Lunde and Robert Paul Richard Scholz as Stavanger Bliktrykkeri og Maskinverksted. The company was later popularly known as «Blikken».
